Dump truck, concrete mixer collide on I

ANKENY, IOWA — Amazingly only minor injuries were reported following a scary crash involving two big trucks on I-35 in Ankeny on Wednesday.

It happened around Noon in the northbound lanes near NE 36th Street. The Iowa State Patrol says a dump truck loaded with sand had a tire issue, causing the driver to lose control and collide with a concrete truck. The concrete truck tipped on its side on the highway. The dump truck crashed off the interstate, between the two bridges on I-35 and down onto NE 36th Street where it caught fire.

The driver of concrete mixer suffered minor injuries. The driver of the dump truck was uninjured. The road was closed for more than an hour before reopening.
