Concrete pump blast leaves 27

A woman is fighting for her life after a concrete pump on a lower north shore construction site exploded, throwing her into a 12m-deep hole.

The North Shore Times reports the 28-year-old woman was walking past the pump at the site where the massive aged care development is being built on Northwood Rd in Longueville on Sydney's lower north shore when the blast occurred at 5pm, Monday.

Royal North Shore Hospital confirmed the young mum remained in a critical condition on Tuesday with significant injuries.

SafeWork NSW said it had started an investigation into the incident.

Lane Cove Council has previously issued at least 13 notices for compliance breaches to developer and land owner of the project, Pathways Property, ranging from trucks incorrectly accessing the site to polluting waters and breaching property boundaries.
